Support Life-Cycle Policy

The Content Farmer™ team is always working to push the limits of current technologies. Subsequently, updates are regular and upgrades are generally significant, requiring additions to the requirements to run the software. With such a high rate of growth in CF's capabilities, it can be difficult to know which version is the latest and which versions are still supported. To clear up this confusion, we have adopted this Support Life-Cycle Policy, effective from September 11, 2008.

Versions of Content Farmer Pro™ are numbered as {major version}{dot}{minor version}. For example, version 2.12 has major version 2 and minor version 12. Minor versions are not necessarily issued sequentially, but can range from 00 to 99. As a convenience, minor versions which are a multiple of 10 may drop the trailing 0's (e.g. CF Pro™ 2.10 is the same as CF Pro™ 2.1 and CF Pro™ 3.00 is the same as CF Pro™ 3).

Support for major versions will only be offered for the latest minor version available under that major version and only for 6 months after the date of release of the next highest major version.

For example, if you are running version 2.11, but version 2.12 is available, then you will have to upgrade to version 2.12 before receiving support. However, if version 3.01 had been available for more than 6 months (it's not available as of this writing), then you would need to upgrade to version 3.01.

Content Farmer 1.xJune 1, 2008
Content Farmer 2.16 (Current Version)Until 2.17 is released or
6 months after 3.00 is released.

Beginning with CF Pro 2.13, when a new major or minor version is released, it will be declared Beta and marked β (e.g. CF Pro 2.13β) for at least 1 month. β versions will not be used in determining the latest available version as used above and will only be supported until the non-β version is released. Upgrading to a β version is optional.

There is an inherent degree of risk involved with using any software, especially beta versions, so backup your database before updating or upgrading.
