Trackback List

Simply put, a trackback is notice to another site that you've been posting about it. The notice includes where you posted, the title of the post, a brief summary of the post, and the title of the site you posted it on. Some sites will then post a note on their website letting everyone know that you were posting about them and linking back to you! Now, if you're using Content Farmer Pro™ for "black hat" purposes, you can earn a lot of negative energy from people by using trackbacks, so be thoughtful before using them. If you are using Content Farmer Pro™ for "white hat" purposes, then such site may welcome your trackback. Either way, take care that Content Farmer Pro™ is a tool which must be used properly in order to yield the best and most-friendly results. For more information on trackbacks, just search on them.

Before sending the trackback notice, the protocol requires that we first check the recipient site's website to find the proper trackback URL. After finding the trackback URL in the webpage, then the trackback is sent. This process is repeated in Content Farmer Pro™ for each possible URL.

To adjust which URLs Content Farmer Pro™ will send trackbacks to, you can use any of the following options:

  • Auto Detect URLs If checked, then Content Farmer Pro™ will search your post for URLs referenced in the body and attempt to send a trackback notice to each.

  • Additional Trackback Pool Each URL in this list will be sent a trackback notice for each post. This can be helpful if sending trackbacks to one of your own sites, for example. You can stop Content Farmer Pro™ from checking for the trackback URL by entering the exact location of the trackback URL and placing a # sign before the URL (e.g. #http://www.mydomain.com/tracback-receiver-script.php). To cause Content Farmer Pro™ to send a trackback to a URL only 50% of the time, put an asterisks in front of the URL (e.g. *http://www.mydomain.com/tracback-receiver-script.php or *#http://www.mydomain.com/tracback-receiver-script.php)

  • Trackback URL Black List Enter the smallest amount of information matching the specific URL you want to block (e.g. just the domain to block all trackbacks to a specific domain instead of including the "www." at the front). Then, no matter where the URL comes from, if it matches the entered text in any way, it will be removed from the list. White hats: This is a great feature to assist in posting trackbacks only to willing recipients.

IMPORTANT: If you use this feature, you MUST use the trackback-poster.php cron script and set the Max Trackbacks Per Run setting in the Settings area!

IMPORTANT: Sending trackbacks requires a lot of work, so be very careful in choosing your setting for Max Trackbacks Per Run
